Avandia Recall And Potential Avandia Class Action Lawsuit Heart Attack Side Effects Report information
In 2008 FDA scientists David Graham and Kate Gelperin expressed concern to FDA superiors regarding the deadly link between the diabetes drug Avandia and a high number of heart attack and heart failure side effects cases. The FDA scientists requested that Avandia be removed from market and all remaining doses recalled to avoid death and other heart related side effects. The drug was not recalled at that time and Avandia continued to be prescribed to diabetes patients.
In May of 2007, a Cleveland Clinic study found that Avandia was linked to a 43% increase in heart attack risk.
Although these reports as well other studies linking Avandia to cardiovascular problems were well known by doctors and documented by the FDA well before last week's senate report, the Glaxo Smith Kline drug Avandia remains on the market and is actively prescribed by doctors each and every day.
Enough is enough and we feel that Glaxo Smith Kline must be held accountable for the pain and suffering caused by their diabetes drug Avandia.
