Lawsuit Filed Against Oklahoma Ultrasound Law
The Reproductive Rights Center has filed a lawsuit against the Oklahoma abortion law requireing all doctors to complete an ultrasound and explain the image to a woman in order for her to have an abortion.
The lawsuit targets provisions of the law preventing a patient from suing if a practioner withholds information related to developmental defects. It also brings into question the legislated protocol for administering mifepristone, which the Center for Reproductive Rights claims is both "less effective and more costly than the one strongly recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists." The law is scheduled to go into effect on November 1.
